“I would not want to roll back everything we did. I want to keep moving forward, but we can move forward with caution, ”Cuomo told NY1.

The governor said he is talking with elected officials and business owners in New York before he enters phase 3 of the opening, which is currently scheduled for July 6th. Cuomo also added that he was concerned about the opening of shopping malls and an indoor dining room and “might think of slowing them down next week.”

On Sundaythe governor announced five deaths from coronavirus, the lowest death rate in the state in one day since March 15. New York City reported 616 additional confirmed cases and less than 900 hospital admissions.

“While states across the country are struggling with new outbreaks associated with the opening, New York’s numbers continue to decline to a record low,” he said on Sunday.

Cuomo’s appeal came after governors of several states in which things are growing rapidly announced that they would retreat or postpone reopening plans.

California governor Gavin Newsome ordered bars to close in Los Angeles and several other counties on Sunday to curb the spread of the virus. Washington Governor Jay Insley has also postponed opening in eight of the state’s 39 counties.
